In HP Presario CQ6 has a curious problem in Mint 18. Even if default output is set to speaker, voices comes out when is selected Analog Jack output. The fix is to install alsa-tools-gui and deactive Analog Jack output

To test sounds, run

aplay -l

You can test the output using command. If card 0 and device 0

aplay -D plughw:0,0 /usr/share/sounds/alsa/Front_Center.wav

To run hdajackretask, run

hdajackretask
